Uniting through the equinox

Spring has officially arrived with the equinox that took place on March 20, the clocks going forward on March 26, colour returning to nature and of course plenty of April showers!
Technically, the equinox marks the point in time, twice a year when the sun is directly above the equator and is significant as it signals the changing of the seasons and Monday's equinox marked the beginning of spring and the advent of longer days and shorter nights. But beyond its astronomical significance the equinox is also a powerful symbol of unity and collaboration.
In many cultures, the equinox is celebrated with festivals and rituals that honour the changing of the seasons and the power of unity, highlighting the importance of creativity, collaboration and connection to one another and to nature.
As a trust, we are reminded at this time that we are "better together". Just as the equinox brings together the two hemispheres of the earth in perfect balance, we are working together and supporting each other, bringing teams and individuals together with different skills, perspectives, knowledge, backgrounds and cultures to achieve our common goal of leading schools where children thrive. This cannot be done by one person or one team alone, we need to come together to make that magic happen.
We have seen some fabulous examples of this magic during the last term. Our Secondary English leads met recently to discuss with each other the changes that they would like to see in the teaching and learning of English throughout the schools and how they can work together to make those changes happen. Similarly, TAs across the trust have been meeting with our trust inclusion lead to discuss frameworks for and reinforce their knowledge of supporting young people with dyslexia in the classroom.
Whether you are working in collaboration with colleagues within your own school environment or with colleagues across the schools within the trust, this unity is making a difference and should be celebrated.
